Celebrities who focused more on Charity than Glamour
Celebrities are known for their glamorous lives. However, not everyone focuses on just glamour and glitz. A few celebrities are known for their charitable work. From Suhel Seth, Sonu Sood, Virat Kohli to Salman Khan, many believe in doing some good to society. There are various reasons that motivate different people like something that is close to the heart or has impacted a close one’s life. Looking at such important personalities trying to make a change, many people unknowingly get encouraged by it. Here are a few personalities who always believed in charity and motivated many people across the country:
Shabana Azmi
Shabana Azmi is a renowned actress who received global acclamation for her
charity work. Previously, she has served as the Goodwill Ambassador of the
United Nations. Besides being a highly talented lady, Azmi has always been
closely connected with various social causes. A few years back, she took over
the “Mijwan Welfare Society” (MWS) that focuses on empowering a small village
called Mijwan, Azamgarh UP. The NGO was founded by her late father, and the
famous poet, Kaifi Azmi. Shabana Azmi has been quite vocal about various social
activities and stayed committed to social activism. Her efforts were recognised
by the country and she was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Award and the Yash Bhartiya
Award by the Uttar Pradesh government. Further, she was awarded the Padma Shri
award for her contributions to society.
Suhel Seth
Suhel Seth is one of
the most renowned personalities in the advertising industry. Also, he is
identified as a philanthropist for his contributions to society. He is
associated with many foundations and always focused on the betterment of
people. For actively contributing to social change in India, the renowned
writer was felicitated by Giving Back Foundation in 2015. Seth is known for his
various generous donations like his contribution to the partition museum in
Amritsar. He is emotionally connected to that city as it is the birthplace of
his parents. Further, Seth has always prioritized health and been associated
with various healthcare foundations. He is one of the board members of the Max
Foundation and the Indian Head Injury Foundation. In his efforts to prioritise
health further, he got associated with the Ila Trust, a non-profit organisation
that offers free health check-ups and medicines to the people in need residing
in Delhi slums.
Kapil Dev
The legendary cricketer is not only known for his skills in the field but
also for being an avid philanthropist. In 2003, Kapil Dev founded Khushii, an
NGO that offers education to underprivileged kids and helps in a positive
transformation. With the help of his NGO, more than 24000 underprivileged
children received an education, counselling, meals, recreation, and various
medical facilities under the Shikshaantra project. He wanted to give back to
society and hence, gathered with a few influential personalities to further
facilitate the process. In 2004, he got associated with the founder of VLCC
Health Care, Vandana Luthra, the chairman and founder of Neemrana Hotels, Aman
Nath, and many others to help more underprivileged kids.
